I know sometimes life gets all crazy and you struggle between what it is and what it should be. Comparing ourselves to other people and other families can creep into our hearts and minds.
We become our biggest critic, our enemy. Your mind takes over and depletes your heart. The truth is, time is what counts. Our children only have time to critique us when their time is open. They want us.
They want to talk to you. (believe it or not) They want to share their thoughts and learn new things from us-no matter how old they are.
They desire us, not the clean living rooms and organized pantries. They still want board games and back yard 's BBQ's or not. Maybe they want just a nice sit down to hear them out.
Just like ourselves, sometimes we just want to say what we are thinking, not so much answers or solutions, but just a sounding board and even agreement sometimes that something sucks.
I am the guiltiest of wanting to give my children solutions and answers to everything they say and wanting everything around them to be perfect. But life is not perfect and answers are not always available, they must learn to seek their own answers, their own perfections and their own happiness. (it is just so difficult as a parent to not be able to kiss a boo boo away)
I have seen through experience that the greatest way to teach them is not by dropping the ball on my own happiness and seeking to be loved and approved of through my perfection only but by living out life the way I want it to be for myself too- a little messy, a little loud, a little chaotic and a lot by the seat of my own pants. When they see me stressing-they believe life is stressful. When they see me seeking perfection for approval-they seek perfection for approval. And on and on.
Let us instead, teach out kiddos to be their true authentic selves by being our true authentic self.
Remember, we train others how to treat us so with all relationships around you and especially the one with yourself-you have to have grace with you and train others around you and yourself that you are worth it!!!
Now my beautiful Single Momma Sista,,, get up and do something fancy for yourself today. Let the world know that you are a Queen and worth more than a mop and bucket (unless of course that is a must---but do it with grace my Sis, grab the handle and sing, dance on that dirty floor and throw that water around like it is a crowd of your favorite fans.
Be that perfectly imperfect beauty that we all know and love.
Hugs and smooches Sis,
W/<3, Venus
